When You Are Tired, You Have Got To Keep Going

July 2, 2009 · Leave a Comment

How many days do you get up tired? For me, it seems like most days I am tired. Mainly because I suppose I am involved in too many projects, but also I just do not like to sleep that much, or so I tell myself. When you are tired, you have got to keep going, not for yourself necessarily, but for those who count on you. Many people rely on me every day to take care a multitude of enterprises, and without my ability to complete them, then disappointment would set in; there would be incomplete assignments, deadlines would not be met, the bottom line, peoples lives would be changed. It’s not like I am all that important, but the assignments or responsibilities that I have are important, and without my fulfilling of those responsibilities, then others lives are altered in a negative way.

It is important then, that I make sure that I follow through on my commitments that I make to other people. Sometimes that means when you are tired, you have got to keep going, and that part of life is not always fun. Our bodies are made in a way that we do require a certain amount of sleep, some more than others, but we do need some to survive. I find that I just need to ask God for help at times when I am really tired. I am not saying that I can go forever without sleep, obviously we need sleep. Jesus prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane, asking the disciples to watch as He prayed, but they fell asleep (Matthew 26:26-46). Jesus said in verses 45-46, “Sleep and take your rest later on. See, the hour is at hand, and the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. Rise, let us be going; see, my betrayer is at hand.” But, the disciples kept falling asleep.

Sometimes it is difficult when we are tired to do what we are suppose to do, but we need to somehow forge ahead. We need to pray for Gods assistance, as Jesus did, ask for help, courage, strength, and for the completion of the commitments we have made. We are an example to those around us. When we follow through on our commitments, people see this, as well as when we do not.  It is imperative that we do our best to complete the mission at hand, to the best of our ability, all for Gods glory. In doing so, I believe we will blessed by it and bless others in the process. It is in those times of difficulty, when you are tired, when you just have to keep going, that it seems as if you find the most meaning and beneficial outcomes happening. I am not sure why, probably because we are at a point where we our most vulnerable, but when we dig deep in our soul for something, then we almost always come out with something splendid. We can benefit a lot more from perseverance, rather than a task completed with ease.

When things are difficult, and you are tired, like I am now, we just need to keep going.  So, as I close, and I get ready for the day, I ask God to guide and direct all of us in a way that His will can be an influence in our lives and positively effect people in our day.

Be bless,

Daryl
